Women's History Month - March 17th
"We are either going to have a future where women lead the way to make peace with the Earth, or we are not going to have a human future at all." -Vandana Shiva
As a leader of the ecofeminist movement and environmental conservation, Vandana Shiva has made large contributions to both science and women’s empowerment throughout her career. She has made contributions to the fields of biodiversity, biotechnology and genetic engineering in addition to authoring twenty books. She continues to push boundaries, connecting the oppression of women by the patriarchy to the mistreatment of the environment. Her message that women are fundamental to the protection and conservation of the environment convey not only the importance of the environment as a whole, but also the role of women as advocates for the world.
