The Muslim Project: Meet Sufian Abulohom

“I grew up in Yemen and moved to the United States when I was 15 years old. I’m a rising senior at American University majoring in Film and Media Arts. I want to be a documentary filmmaker because I feel like it’s important to represent the unheard voices in society. My most recent documentary is about a Muslim special needs teacher and her relationship with her autistic brother. I’m also interest in making fiction films because it’s important to express art. One of the reasons I’m in film is because of the lack of representation of the Muslims in the industry. Think about it how many Muslim directors, actors or Muslims in the industry do you know?”
